This project required the design of a full illustration system for Pomegranate Books (a book collecting app). Based on the industry, research i’ve done, and the brand’s visuals, I developed a cohesive approach to illustration and iconography focusing specifically on designing for mobile (small screens) and creating a unified/flexible system. I designed and delivered a visual asset library consisting of 3 hero illustrations, 5 spot illustrations, 15 pictograms, and 40 product icons. Beyond asset creation, I integrated the iconography into UI screens and established formalized illustration and icon system guidelines to ensure long-term design consistency.
The Pomegranate Books icon and illustration system helps create a cleaar and consistent visual style across the product. Icons, pictograms, and illustrations each serve a purpose; from guiding actions to adding personality and storytelling. Together, they make the experience easy to use, visually engaging, and true to the Pomegranate Books Brand.
Key Lines
Use key lines to ensure visual consistency across the icon and illustration system by defining the maximum active area an icon or illustration can occupy. The final exported icon size is 24x24 px. The final exported pictogram size is 36x36 px. The final exported spot illustration size is 220x220 px. The final exported hero illustration size is 402x402 px. The key lines act as internal boundaries that keep shapes proportional, aligned, and balanced.
